HOMEDANT shelves have a steel frame and laminated shelf boards. The posts and frame are steel and lock together with a boltless system. Each shelf surface is a laminated board that's white on one side and light wood on the other. The shelves themselves are not metal and not wire, so you get a solid, flat surface.
What does each material do for you?
The steel frame carries the weight. Because the posts and frame pieces lock together without bolts or nuts, the unit's strength comes from the steel connections rather than from screws driven into wood.
The boards give your stuff a flat place to sit, and that matters more than it sounds. Spice jars, quart paint cans and small craft bins can tip or wobble on wire gaps, while a solid board gives them even footing. The reversible finish also lets the same shelf suit different rooms: white for a bright laundry room, light wood for a living room or home office.

What are the tradeoffs of a laminated shelf board?
A board is not a steel deck, so treat it accordingly. Don't stand on it, and don't load it past its published rating.
- Drips stay put. A solid board catches what wire would let fall through. Set leaky bottles, wet garden tools or a damp cooler in a tray.
- Ratings are tied to the board. HOMEDANT's load datasheet for these units is based on a 9 mm board, and the published ratings are rounded down so they don't exceed the datasheet value. Plan around the number on the product page.
- Check your real load. Weigh your heaviest bin on a bathroom scale (step on holding it, then subtract your own weight) and compare it with the shelf rating.
Same materials, two different HOMEDANT HOUSE jobs
The 48.1-inch HOMEDANT HOUSE rolling shelf comes in black or white and suits a pantry or utility room where you want to pull storage out to clean behind it. On the rolling shelf, each shelf is rated for 176 lb. With its casters installed, the whole rolling unit is rated for 308 lb. That whole-unit limit, not the per-shelf figure, is what caps a loaded rolling shelf, so add up everything on all five tiers before you fill it.
The 24.4-inch HOMEDANT HOUSE pegboard shelf is a stationary unit with a white frame, built for a narrow spot like a craft corner or garage wall where you want tools hanging within reach above the boards. The standing pegboard shelf holds up to 264 lb per shelf and 1,320 lb in total. It doesn't come with wheels, so pick it for a spot where it can stay put.

Frequently asked questions
Will the post holes show on a HOMEDANT HOUSE unit?
No. HOMEDANT HOUSE hides the holes on its posts for a cleaner look in living spaces, while the standard HOMEDANT line, which is aimed at heavy-duty storage, has visible post holes.
Does the rolling shelf include a pegboard?
No. The 48.1-inch rolling shelf is a plain shelving unit. The pegboard comes on the 24.4-inch HOMEDANT HOUSE pegboard shelf, which is a standing model.
